All About SG

Stepney Greencoat is a Church of England School. It was founded in 1710 by 110 of the leading inhabitants of the Hamlet of Ratcliffe for the education of local children. This was at a time when only the children of the wealthy were educated. In 1970 the school moved from its old site in Whitehorse Road to its present one. St. Anne’s School used to be on this site but it was bombed during the war. The Governing Body of Stepney Greencoat is made up of representatives of the local church, the local community, the parents, the staff and the local Education Authority.
